I absolutely LOVED Yes, Chef. This was one of the best contemporary romance books I have read to date. If you are a big fan of the FX show The Bear, this is the book for you.
Poppy and Jack first run into each other at Poppy’s sister’s wedding. Jack is one of the chefs that is working at the wedding. Poppy accidentally hits Jack in the face with a shrimp, and they immediately become enemies.
Fast forward to a year later, Poppy and her boyfriend go to a new restaurant that Poppy’s father owns. Poppy thinks that her boyfriend is going to propose to her. Only her boyfriend dumps her in the restaurant in front of a bunch of people. People start pulling out their phones recording the disaster happening in front of them to post to social media. Poppy is an influencer and her reputation is immediately dragged through the mud. Little does she know, Jack is a chef at the same restaurant. His boss fires him on that same evening and when he storms out of the back of the kitchen, Poppy and Jack run into each other.
After being fired, Jack goes back home to Florida as his late mentor left him a family-owned restaurant. He wants to make something of his own and put his name on the culinary world map. Poppy needs to escape her messy break up and show her family she is more than just a social media influencer. She shows up at Jack’s family’s restaurant begging for a chance to help him show case the restaurant and get it ready for the grand opening. They must start from scratch including cleaning the restaurant top to bottom, ordering new equipment, ordering food, creating a menu, advertising, and having multiple friends/family help them along the way. Jack starts teaching Poppy how to cook and the sparks between them start flying.
This was such a fun read and the PERFECT book for summer!
