Okayyyy Brooke Fast, you’re on my radar, girl. It was like Hunger Games and Orange is the New Black fell in love and had a baby. A mysterious, heartbreaking (yet heartwarming), sick, twisted, and exciting baby. The way I NEED to know if there are plans for a book 2. If it ends like this, I might lose sleep over it. This girl can’t live without knowing what comes next! I forgot how much I loved a Dystopian world! I’m actually sitting here trying to think about what I loved so I can have an eloquent review, but to be honest, I just keep thinking that I loved it all. I was immediately drawn into the storyline. It is different, it catches your attention, and when you have such a unique situation, you’re dying to find out what comes next. Raven’s strength was beautiful to read, and she was like onion, revealing one layer at a time. She had been through extensive trauma and still managed to fight her way through life AND learn to open up her heart again. In a world designed to harden you, it was heartwarming to see her become soft again. Raven + Vale= top notch writing. At first, I was worried how the author was going to portray their connection after just one kiss in the alley, but it was done in the most beautiful, slow-burn way. The reader had to learn to trust Vale right alongside Raven and boy, did I end up trusting him. Maybe even lusting after him a little bit. Haha. He was another perfect example of strong, but also soft. Every time we got those glimpses of his soft side, I melted. I’m not going to say it here so that I don’t give away any spoilers, but at one point did my heart break? Yes, and I’ll need 3-5 business days to forgive you Brooke Fast. If I had to think of one thing that I wished for, it would have been to see more of the relationships between the characters! Buttttt, maybe we can get that in Book 2…. Pretty please with sugar on top?
