The Third to Die by Allison Brennan released February 4th, 2020. This is book 1 in the new series “Mobile Response Team”. Kara Quinn, an LA Detective, is currently on leave visiting her grandma in Liberty Lake, WA. While on a morning jog she comes across the dead body of a Seattle nurse. It’s determined that this murder matches the profile of the compulsive Triple Killer. D.C. FBI agent Mathias Costa is the head of the newly formed Mobile Response Team for the F.B.I. and takes the team on their first case to Liberty Lake to catch a killer. This leads the reader on an urgent search for a dangerous, compulsive killer. But who is the killer and what is the connection between the victims? Can they determine the pattern of the killer and stop the killer before he/she strikes again? Can Mathias and Kara protect residents of Liberty Lake? This and so many other questions cause this to be a suspenseful page turning read.
I loved Third to Die! It was a thriller, with a hint of romance thrown in. I fell in love with the main characters Kara and Mathias. They were easy to relate to and view as real people. Brennan did a great job of developing the characters in this book. This book was a great suspense and the end provided closure but also left enough open to leave the reader unable to wait for the next book. I felt that this was a great suspense, that caused you to wonder who was committing these crimes and if they could be caught. Overall, I give this book a 4.7 out of 5. I highly recommend this book and couldn’t put it down. I look forward to (and can’t wait for) additional books in this series. I would even consider picking up some of Brennan’s other books.
