This neurological disorder affects Leah’s visual perception. While not blind, her sight is delayed, unable to process movement. To compensate, her hearing and sense of smell are near superpowers.
Author, Armando Lucas Correa, lays the groundwork for this first-person narrative into Leah’s privileged and overly sheltered existence. Recovering from the recent death of her mother, she is determined to be less independent on her caretakers, striking up a spontaneous friendship with the woman next door. Alice has a fascinating story, complete with secrets and an abusive husband. Soon Leah becomes ensnared in Alice’s drama, becoming fearful for Alice and herself.
Is Alice really who she says she is? Why is the man who smells of Bergamot stalking Leah? How will Leah break free of her insecurities to live more like Alice? Her newly developed paranoia surrounding her personal safety and that of her neighbor Alice begins to consume her. Leah is determined to help Alice and uncover the mystery of the man determined to undermine their safety.
The Silence in Her Eyes provides taught psychological suspense, plot twists and a surprise ending that will leave readers guessing until the last page.
