To say I devoured this book is an understatement. I picked it up in the morning and thought, “I’ll just read the first chapter”. Then, I decided to read just two chapters. Well, it was over after that. Every spare minute I had during the day was spent with my face in this book, and I finished it before I went to bed! I cannot tell you how long it has been since I read a whole book in one day, but there were so many pieces that kept me coming back for more.
Graham and Claire were magical together. Their banter and sarcasm were EVERYTHING. There were a few times that I chuckled out loud at their responses to each other, and it felt so real and authentic. The book was so focused on them and their relationship, and it really didn’t have a lot of extra fluff. Sometimes I find myself skimming through certain parts of books because it feels like it was added just to throw in more dialogue or pages, but I didn’t feel like this book did this at all! Everything felt pertinent to the story, and I did not want to miss ONE WORD!
However, we must talk about the parts that absolutely stole the show and tugged at my heartstrings in the best way, Graham’s emails. Oh my, these emails. I didn’t think I could love him more, and then another email would be written. I think these sections were the biggest reason that I couldn’t put the book down. I just couldn’t wait to read his next email and to see how his feelings for Claire were slowly evolving.
The ONLY reason I made it a 4.9 instead of a 5-star read was because I was left dying to read more descriptive scenes about their intimate times. It honestly didn’t take away from the story to not have those moments described, but I loved the characters so much and wanted so badly to feel more connected to those moments.
All in all, this book was such a lovely surprise, and I will be recommending it to everyone!!
