The story follows Sarai, an eighteen-year-old woman bent on vengeance after surviving an attempted murder four years ago. Determined to uncover the truth behind the attack, she returns as a Petitor—a prosecutor with the magical ability to detect lies—and is paired with Tetrarch Kadra, a sadistic and powerful judge who might be involved in a series of similar deaths.
Sarai is a deeply compelling protagonist, driven by the desire for justice yet torn between her dark mission and the growing, dangerous attraction to Kadra. The tension between her desire for vengeance and her conflicting feelings for Kadra adds emotional depth to the narrative. As Sarai works alongside Kadra to solve cases by day and plots his downfall by night, the stakes heighten, and the reader is kept on the edge of their seat.
