What a wild ride! The Last One by Will Dean is a thrilling novel with many twists and turns. This is the kind of locked room mystery that will make you never want to go on a cruise again.
Caz Ripley goes on a cruise aboard the RMS Atlantica with her boyfriend Pete. They are set for a vacation across the Atlantic Ocean to the New York City with the all the upmost amenities along the way. Bars, numerous restaurants, pools, a climbing wall, literally everything they could want is aboard this ship. Their cruise starts off great, great food, new friends, a seemingly perfect first day on the water. However, when Caz wakes up the next morning, Pete is no longer with her in their room. When she leaves their cabin to find him, no one else is on board the cruise liner either. The ship is still moving at full throttle, but no one is steering the ship.
I am hesitant to write a long summary of this book because I do not want to ruin any of the surprises left for us by Will Dean. This book continuously shocked me and was downright terrifying at times. The pace of this book reminded me of the movie Speed. Constantly high paced, high pressure, and very intense. Caz is an easy character to root for. She is kind and caring and has a history of people letting her down, so you want her to succeed. Even though this thriller was on the longer side, I was flipping through pages to see how this story would turn out and I loved every minute of it. This is a thriller I will be recommending to everyone I
