Cute animals + witty female main character + yummy spicy scenes. Those are the three things that I truly feel made this book! The animal names were hilarious, and their presence actually added more to the book than I anticipated. Obviously, Dammit Ziggy stole the show, and also made the readers fall more in love with Jameson because of how he became a big softy when it came to DZ. Luna was my kind of female main character. She was strong, sarcastic, optimistic, and was motivated to protect those around her! I swear that no matter how many books I read, when there is good banter between the two main characters, it hooks me every time.
The one thing that really brought down my rating was my interest in the first half of the book compared to my interest in the second half. Slow burns aren’t my favorite anyways, but it felt like everythingggg was slower for the beginning of this book. There seemed to be a lot of fluff, and times where I found myself skimming over paragraphs. I did think that it was random that there were just a few chapters from Willow’s point of view thrown in there. I understand that her story had a place in the book, but I think it could have been described or presented in a different way. The first time I started a chapter and realized it was from Willow’s perspective, I was like wait, what’s happening? Alas, I have to address the fire between Jameson and Luna. Once it hit, it HIT. I loved the descriptions, the tension, and the banter between them! I wish we could have seen more of that because it absolutely made the book for me!
