Five Stars! (All the stars, honestly)
I could not put this book down and I easily finished it in two days! Not only is the plot entertaining, the writing is phenomenal. Ashley Winstead can take a popular trope and create a story so unique, it’s as if every book written before had actually followed her lead. This refreshing take on fake dating is hilarious, heartfelt, and captivating. I laughed until I cried multiple times and also shed a few emotional tears. I honestly cannot recommend this book highly enough!
Alexis Stone is an elementary school librarian, shy and reserved. Logan Arthur is a young, devilishly handsome, loud-mouthed politician who is running for Governor of the great state of Texas. Alexis was recently dumped by her longtime boyfriend and needed a change of pace. Logan had a rough day at work and was just looking to let off some steam. With one look and zero inhibitions, Alexis and Logan are magnetic – spending the remainder of the evening laughing and getting to know each other. Sparks fly…no, literally! The rooftop bar catches fire after being struck by lightning and in an act of chivalry, Logan rushes out of the building carrying Alexis in his arms. Camera flashes snap Logan back to reality and, after ensuring Alexis’ safety, he hastily flees the scene. The next day, Alexis wakes up to a million notifications on her phone and at the center of what could be the scandal of the year…until she’s contacted by Logan’s camp asking her to be his fake girlfriend until the campaign is over. They already made such a strong connection the night before…could they really pretend to be in love? Or would pretending be what keeps them from being together?
I swear, the chemistry between Alexis and Logan is electric and intoxicating! Their banter is hilarious and their personality differences complement each other perfectly. Even if you aren’t a fan of politics, you’ll find yourself rooting for Logan Arthur for Governor before the halfway mark! This five star read will stay with you long after the final page.
