Rating: 5-stars
The Blue Bar by Damyanti Biswas is a well-written romantic suspense novel. It is just as superb as all of my other favorites by Sandra Brown, Heather Graham, Lynsay Sands and many others. This novel is unique in that it features an Indian culture. I love the diversity that is vividly shown to me through the writer’s powerful words. Her descriptions made me feel like I am witnessing the events as they happen. Yet, there were just words on a flat page of a novel.
The hero of this story is an inspector. I keep thinking of my favorite inspectors like Hercule Poirot, Sam Marlowe, and Sherlock Holmes. Arnav Rajput is a good man who has a lot on his mind. Especially, where his love interest is concerned. He has affection for one former lover, Tara. Tara was a dancer until she disappeared. Her disappearance gave her the new start in life she needed. However, danger and mayhem followed her.
Inspector Arnav and Tara have a lot of issues to work out between them. Then, there is the danger that is circling them. Suspense, romance, and danger make this an incredible book. I love how Damyanti Biswas creates a book in a genre I love. Yet, she makes it so ethnically appealing and different at the same time. I love the characters, their dialogue, and the mystery of it all. The ending could have gone in so many directions. The pacing was great. The plot kept me intrigued. Damyanti Biswas is a new writer to me. She is now going on my favorites list. I will definitely be reading more of her books in the future. Her writing has a way of transporting one from their chair to a whole new world. The Blue Bar has it all!
