Summer’s Gift by Jennifer Ryan is a perfect summer read. It contains a complicated family history, a DNA test, sibling rivalry, and a romance. A young girl finds out that she has a birth father she never met. Her whole life feels like a lie, and she is taking the opportunity to find out about the family she never knew. Summer Sutherland is that girl. The one who unearths a secret that sends her life spiraling into a deeper web. She has sisters. One is accepting of her another does not want her around at all. Love, redemption, hope, and new beginnings exist in this fabulous read.
Jennifer Ryan is a superb writer. Her style engages readers into a more complex tale. Her characters are three-dimensional. The kind that hooks one further into their sad, sappy, and complicated lives. Summer is the heroine that is easily liked. She brings a set of emotional toil that lures readers to her side in a heartbeat. The birth father is not like one would think. He made mistakes in his younger years and lives to make amends. He is indeed a good father and current husband to his wife. The greatest thing about this book is that it covers a variety of topics and does it well. Overall, I highly recommend this read if you love contemporary romances with plenty of twists.
