*As this is the 3rd book in a series, there may be spoilers in this review. I have tried to keep out as much as possible*
Okay, I cannot stress this enough…I LOVE this series! I have always enjoyed a good mystery and have always loved police series (i.e. The Women’s Murder Club series by James Patterson), so when I was offered to read and review the first DC Cat Kinsella book, Sweet Little Lies, by Caz Frear I jumped on the opportunity. Sweet Little Lies was amazing, Stone Cold Heart (#2), in my opinion, was even better and I have to say I enjoyed Shed No Tears (#3) just as much if not more so than the two previous books! Caz Frear has created an instantly relatable character in Cat Kinsella in her confidence and take-charge attitude, but also in her fallibility and humanity.
Detective Constable Cat Kinsella is back with a new case and the same secrets. With her father closely tied to organized crime and her withholding information, Cat seeks to distance herself from that aspect of her life and, instead, finds herself having to lie to her boss, co-workers, and her romantic partner. At work, the fourth and final missing girl from “The Roommate” case has been found and it seems as if everything is in place to close the case and move on. However, when evidence does not match up and more questions are had than answers, is this case really as cut and dry as it seems? Could searching for what really happened to Holly Kemp place them danger?
As with my last review, I highly recommend reading these books in order. Even though the case is new in each book, there are many plot points that carry from story to story. Plus, I have yet to be disappointed by a single novel in this series so why wouldn’t you want to start in the beginning! Go out and read this book! I’ll just be not so patiently waiting over here for the 4th to come out.
