Coming from a background in hospital science, I was intrigued and excited to get the opportunity to read this book. Dr McGregor lays out her principals on how females are being failed in current medical practices in a concise narrative that offers the reader the opportunity to examine their current healthcare provision.
As a child, my grandmother nearly passed away from a heart attack due to her believing that she had indigestion. This book challenges societal norms, such as this, in an attempt to improve the overall health and disease treatment of women worldwide. The chapters are well researched and include a comprehensive introduction to the current issues and reasons behind the failings in a simple yet effective way.
I feel well informed about the issues, what is being done to combat the problem and now what my role is in this fight. I believe this is an essential read for men and women and will provide an educational overview of women’s healthcare science. There is also the addition of great references, resources and a handy guide of how to approach your healthcare provider in the future.
