What an absolutely perfect beach read! I found myself really rooting for these characters and falling in love with the setting just as much as the story. Seven Summer Weekends by Jane L. Rosen was such a lovely book and just made me feel so good reading it.
Addison is ready for the big promotion that she has been working towards, and sacrificing living for, and the day is finally here. However, when an epic Zoom fail occurs, Addison finds herself unemployed but the surprising new owner of a beach house in Fire Island. Finding out that her aunt, with whom she had not spoken to in decades, left her a house is surprising to say the least. But Addison is committed to spending the summer there to clean it up and sell it, while also focusing on her next steps. What she didn’t factor in is the rotation of house guests, and the grumpy-but of course attractive-neighbor who unconsciously (or consciously) are derailing her plans. Can Addison go back to the life she had before? Does she even want to after these summer weekends?
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it! I found the romance to be very sweet while also touching on personal past experiences that can impede a new romance from forming. On a personal note, I have been fortunate enough to spend most of my summers visiting the Hamptons and this book made me embarrassed that I have never gone to Fire Island. I will be changing that ASAP after reading this novel.
