“I love you, Sierra. On your darkest days, the good days, all the ones in between. Show me your worst, baby, and I’ll show you just how far my heart can stretch for you.” Oh Dylan Donovan, you sweet and sexy book boyfriend. In the beginning, I didn’t enjoy how cocky and careless the author made Dylan’s character seem. I really wasn’t sure how my opinion was going to be able to drastically change, but boy was I wrong. From the moment he helped Sierra during her panic attack, I was hooked on him. There were so many things that made him stand out as one of the greats. The way he validated Sierra’s feelings, the way he never made her feel less than and encouraged her to find her power, and can we talk about the way he made her see how beautiful her scars were? There was never a point after the panic attack scene that I was disappointed in him or doubted him. His character development was literally a nonstop incline. Okay, have I gushed about Dylan enough yet? Sierra’s character gave such a beautiful depiction of living with anxiety, insecurities, and learning how to trust again. Yes, she leaned on Dylan a lot, but I enjoyed how the author made her take her power back for herself, not for Dylan. The supporting characters were also so important to this story. I NEED a book about Kian and Scarlett because there is clearly something brewing there, and it’s obvious he has so much more behind his silly side. If I can come away from a book already dying for another about a supporting character, I know the author is going to be on my “must read” list. I only took off a small point just because it took me a little bit to get into the story in the beginning, but the way I changed my tune so fast has me second guessing if I was just in a weird mood or something! I am so excited to read more!
