I’m sorry, how have I never read a book by this author before? I can guarantee there will be more in future, and I’m low key hoping we get a second book about two of the supporting characters in this one (Michelle and Gold, hint hint). The banter was so freaking good, and it wasn’t just sprinkled in here and there, it was literally the basis of the book. The description of Ted Lasso meets How to Lose a Guy in 10 days was spot on. Luke Wolfe was my personal Roy Kent, but with the most delicious spicy side. One thing that I loved so much was that both main characters stayed 100% true to themselves. Yes, Luke was obsessed with Abigail and clearly started to open up and be more vulnerable, but also, he was still grumpy and grunting like always. Abigail was confident and fierce, but still so incredibly awkward and quirky. To show such a silly side of yourself and then have someone fully accept you and love that side of you as well, I mean, that’s the life goal, isn’t it? I want to make it clear that the only reasons I took off a couple of points were for purely subjective opinions. This book will, undoubtedly, be a 5/5 for many readers! I loved getting to see the soft moments that Luke had when he talked to his mother, and I thought it was a moment of great foreshadowing when he told his mom she would have liked Abigail, but then we never got to see them interact ☹. I think it could have been a great addition to the Epilogue to bring it all together. While I thought her whole Gollum dress-up scene was funny, and I did find it a little over the top. They had such a good connection, and clearly, he was going to see something was wrong, so it felt too immature by the Gollum scene. As much as you love someone, resorting to those actions while angry could make anyone throw up red flags and not just easily forgive. Again, soooo subjective, but I really loved it!
