Want to discuss great books with like-minded friends in Perth?

The concept is simple. We’re a global book club for likeminded women to discuss great books! All members of the book club read the same book over the same period; members then meet up in their respective cities at the end of each month to discuss the book and exchange views.

About the book

What we are reading in June: All The Lonely People by Mike Gayle

If you loved A Man Called Ove, then prepare to be delighted as Jamaican immigrant Hubert rediscovers the world he’d turned his back on, in a novel that is “warm, funny, and gives you all the feels” (Good Housekeeping).

In weekly phone calls to his daughter in Australia, widower Hubert Birdpaints a picture of the perfect retirement, packed with fun, friendship, and fulfillment. But it’s a lie. In reality, Hubert’s days are all the same, dragging on without him seeing a single soul.

Until he receives some good news — good news that in one way turns out to be the worst news ever, news that will force him out again, into a world he has long since turned his back on. The news that his daughter is coming for a visit.

Now Hubert faces a seemingly impossible task: to make his real life resemble his fake life before the truth comes out.
Along the way Hubert stumbles across a second chance at love, renews a cherished friendship, and finds himself roped into an audacious community scheme that seeks to end loneliness once and for all . . .

Life is certainly beginning to happen to Hubert Bird. But with the origin of his earlier isolation always lurking in the shadows, will he ever get to live the life he’s pretended to have for so long?

Hi. I have just published my debut novel ‘Darwin’s Wake’. I’d love the opportunity to discuss it with the members of your book club.
The book has been described as a crime, thriller with a social conscience. The story climaxes with the collision of four lives in Darwin, NT, with characters origination from Perth, Sydney and Sri Lanks. I’m a Perth local and could attend in person or virtually if preferred. I can be contacted via email or mobile (0407705646).

    Cheers

    Pete

Hi , I have just published my first book – Forget Me Not. It’s self help/ happiness genre. Collection of 25 deeply emotional stories on love, loss, risk, compassion – admiration of human connection. It was conceived during Covid times when we lost connection as humans and control. Personally as a doctor it ignited me to be more mindful and present.
Would love an opportunity to share my book journey and discuss the book with your members.
I am locally based at Perth and would love to join in either personally or online.
