I went into this book completely blind. I hadn’t heard of it before, hadn’t seen reviews, and didn’t really know the plot; however, I was hooked basically from the first chapter!! It is an instant bonus for a book when it can pull me in so quicky, and an even bigger bonus when it is an easy read. There are times when I would feel like I was only reading for a minute or two and I would realize it had been another 25 pages already. It didn’t drag on, and every single chapter had something in it that kept me wanting more. There is just enough mystery that keeps your attention and keeps you sucked in waiting to find out the truth about certain situations.
There are quite a few characters that I am looking forward to the moment when they get what’s coming to them, that’s for sure! I love Ella and Reed together, and I think they balance each other in a great way, but I wish there was more of a build up to their relationship. This is one of the main things I feel this book is missing, character building. For example, I enjoyed how Easton and Ella became friends, but it lacked that moment that really solidified that their relationship had evolved. Again, I obviously love Ella and Reed together, but it felt like they went from hate, to lust, to love in no time. It lacked the endearing conversations I typically enjoy in an enemies to lovers storyline. Regardless, the cliffhanger was perfect, and lead to an immediate start to book #2, and that’s the best!
