Rating 5/5:
I knew I was going to like this book from the moment I read the tagline attached to the title… “And On the Eighth Day, God Created Friends, Just in Case.”
Welcome to Hamilton County, Oregon, a unique place where you will have fun getting to know the larger than life characters that live in a quaint little place called Vision Valley.
What can I say I liked the MOST about this book? Not sure if I can choose just one thing, but I’ll try to narrow it down.
1) The laugh-out loud dialogue is definitely in the top 3:
“Please put the gun away Pat. That poor man is going to need a change of underwear as it is.”
That’s just one of the many one-liners that had me laughing out loud. I love the little previews the author gave at the beginning of every chapter too. The funny ones gave me serious anticipation to find out what was going to happen next.
2) You have SO many people to cheer for. Even in the midst of the conflicts, it’s a generally positive book with likeable and relatable characters. You might even see yourself in one of them (like I did).
3) The author’s writing style was both easy to read and fun to read. I could tell how much he enjoyed writing it. I especially loved the little touches, like titling all the chapters and the little quotes at the beginning to give you a little preview of the fun to come.
I believe this book is a good choice for a future GBC title. I feel the GBC readers would find it hilariously funny and get a kick out of the many characters they get to know while reading the book.
