**Short review but it’s just so hard talking about this book without giving any spoilers**
Wow, wow, wow!!! It’s been a while since I’ve been really impressed by a thriller. This book was gripping, creepy, and SUPER twisted. Exactly what I needed after reading some predictable thrillers.
Also, it was VERY unique. I’ve never read anything like it!
The chapters switch between an orphanage in Sri Lanka, and present day San Francisco.
Paloma was adopted from an orphanage in Sri Lanka by a wealthy american couple, and she couldn’t be more excited. She’s happy that her american dream is coming true, but she’s also sad that she’s going to leave her best friend behind. She’ll miss the nights making up stories about Mohini, a woman ghost that appears to the girls in the orphanage.
Paloma is now thirty years old, and her life is a mess. She’s drinking to forget a terrible secret from her past. She’s seeing Mohini again. And her roommate, who found out about her secret, is found dead in her apartment. Crazy, huh?
The plots in this story were SO good. It had the perfect level of spookiness, and it definitely got me creeped out.
Highly recommend it!
