Before I get into the book itself, I want to say that I think the cover, and even the synopsis, are slightly misleading. I fully thought I was starting a non-fiction true crime story, which I was very excited for, but obviously that turned out to not be the case. I think it could be advertised a little differently just so that it is clearer for the reader. With that being said, once it became clear that it was a work of fiction and I switched my mindset, I did end up enjoying the story.
I enjoyed how the writer left little bread crumbs that kept you coming back because you needed to know where they were leading you! A few moments seemed pretty obvious, and I was hoping for a little more shock and surprise. I loved the banter back and forth between the characters in the interview form, especially between Felix and Casey. They made the book for me. They had their own story within the story of Sara Parcell, and I looked forward to reading their parts! The cliffhanger and “choose what you believe” ending was great! Did Casey know? Was she the reason for the way things played out? Had she actually met Sara? I know what I believe, but I like the answer is still up for debate!
It’s a short read and the writing style makes it easy to fly through the chapters!
