Trigger warnings: Post-partum depression, mental health issues
This book is about a mother with a history of mental health issues in her younger years. The things she thinks are happening, might not be happening. Her postpartum circumstances could be re-surfacing her mental health issues. Given her past, it wouldn’t be surprising. Can we trust her take on the strange events that are unfolding? She doesn’t seem like a reliable narrator. What is actually happening? These are the questions that were circling in my mind as I eagerly tried to get to the bottom of it all. This uncertainty kept me engaged and I flipped through this book in a day.
With two timelines – one in the past and one in the present, the pieces came together into a very enlightening, surprise twist that eventually gets to the bottom of it all and reveals the trustworthiness of the protagonist. This was a fast-paced, intense thriller and I would recommend it to anyone who has a problem with second guessing their intuition. This book might give you reason to think again.
