4.5 STARS
“I always stick to the rules, unless I don’t agree with them, then I break them all.” ALICE FEENEY>>>>>>>
In a nutshell: who are all these people…all these women?!
I had a love/hate with ‘Good Bad Girl’ because I never ever knew what was going on. And I like to think of myself as an amateur detective.:) In all honesty, this was a 5 STAR read, but since I wasn’t able to connect even a mere dot–I subtracted half a star.:)
There was 80 year old Edith, her daughter Clio, and then random Patience and Frankie.
Besides Edith and Clio, you couldn’t have paid me enough to understand how these women related to each other. But relate they did…or are.😈
This mystery novel was about motherhood. And I really like that motherhood was the theme because I feel like motherhood in itself is a mystery. I am not, nor will ever be, a mother but there’s no possible way to avoid all the pressure a woman faces as a mother.
What is right, what is wrong, what worked with child one but not working for child two, etc.
How old you are, how young you are. Deciding to work after maternity leave or staying home.
The physical, emotional, mental toll of pregnancy. The physical, emotional, mental toll post-partum.
And heaven forbid if you’re a woman who doesn’t want children at all. IT’S MADNESS.
*end rant*
‘Good Bad Girl’ wasn’t that intense but the sentiment remains. If you’re like me, you’ll finish this book in no time because of the insatiable need to know what’s happening but PSA, Alice Feeney will keep you on the hook until the very end. However, it was incredibly worth it. I love Alice Feeney, I’ve read all but two of her books (‘Daisy Darker’ and ‘I Know Who You Are’) but hope to complete her catalog as soon as possible.
