I loved this one!! I already loved this author so I was soo excited for this book! Collins (FMC) is a paramedic who works nonstop to build a better life for herself, but she’s carrying around a lot of emotional baggage because of her parents. They’ve spent years making her life harder, and because of their reputation, Collins has always felt judged by the people around her. She keeps everyone at arm’s length and is so used to handling everything on her own that accepting help doesn’t come naturally to her. My heart honestly hurt for her at times because you could see how lonely she’d been for so long! Theo (MMC) is pure golden retriever energy in the best possible way! After a one-night stand leads to an unexpected pregnancy, Theo doesn’t run from the situation. Instead, he shows up. Every single time. Whether he’s bringing groceries, cooking meals, fixing things around Collins’s house, or just checking in on her, he makes it clear that she’s not alone anymore. I loved that he wasn’t pushy or overbearing. He was patient, supportive, and determined to earn her trust. I really enjoyed Collins slowly letting her walls down. Seeing someone who has spent her whole life believing she couldn’t rely on anyone finally learn what unconditional love and support look like was so rewarding. Theo’s family was also amazing! They welcomed Collins with open arms, and those moments added so much warmth to the story. The small-town atmosphere and little mystery happening in the background made the story even more enjoyable. It felt cozy but also very curious!! I know the surprise pregnancy trope isn’t for everyone, but this is one that was done sooo well! The romance was so sweet, emotional, and full of heart from beginning to end! If you love small-town romances, accidental pregnancy, blue-collar heroes, first responder heroines, black cat and golden retriever vibes, and heroes who are completely obsessed with their woman, definitely check this one out!
