Want to discuss great books with like-minded friends in Etobicoke?
The concept is simple. We’re a global book club for likeminded women to discuss great books! All members of the book club read the same book over the same period; members then meet up in their respective cities at the end of each month to discuss the book and exchange views.
Grab your seat!Someday, Maybe by Onyi Nwabineli
A stunning and witty debut novel about a young woman’s emotional journey through unimaginable loss, pulled along by her tight-knit Nigerian family, a posse of new friends, and the love and laughter she shared with her husband. Onyi Nwabineli is a fresh new voice for fans of Yaa Gyasi, Queenie and I May Destroy You.
Here are three things you should know about my husband:
1. He was the great love of my life despite his penchant for going incommunicado.
2. He was, as far as I and everyone else could tell, perfectly happy. Which is significant because…
3. On New Year’s Eve, he committed suicide.
And here is one thing you should know about me:
1. I found him.
Bonus fact: No. I am not okay.
GET INVOLVED
An olive branch to start a conversation.
The Gloss is so much more than a book club, we start the conversation around books – but it always leads to deeper more meaningful connection and provides the foundation for lifelong friendships. Join us and discover a wide variety of new books, new authors, new friends and enjoy a glass of wine all at the same time. We’re delighted to welcome you into The Gloss!
Are you interested in starting a book club in a city near you?

Hi! Is this chapter active?
It is indeed – here’s a link to the next meeting https://theglossbookclub.com/events/etobicokes-december-book-club/
Hi there, Can you tell me if the Etobicoke chapter usually meets in person now? I know covid threw a big wrench in it but I’m looking to enjoy that in person meetings.
Social interaction .. where have all the people gone. Smile. Is the age range diverse in the group.?
Cheers,
Isabel
Hi Isabel! Etobicoke has an in-person event planned for January the 31st, you can keep up with the upcoming events section on the Etobicoke page on our site . Some hosts have given us a range between 25-45 for age diversity in the group, hope this helps!
Hi! Can I come out to the next meeting? I’ve never been to a Gloss book club before.
