Erased: What American Patriarchy Has Hidden From Us by Anna Malaika Tubbs gives a detailed overview of the American Patriarchy spanning from its impact on the earliest days of the country to present day. Throughout the novel, she explores the way various groups of people are negatively impacted by the patriarchy and envisions a world without such limitations. Tubbs brilliantly weaves together her own personal narratives and lesser known stories of American history.
Erased makes for a tough read, but a great one. As a lover of history books, it’s clear that women and their stories often get overlooked. This book changes that, bringing the experience of women to the forefront. It also pushed me to reflect on my own privilege as a white woman and consider how I can help create a more equal world. Overall, I would highly recommend Erased!
