Is there anything better than reading a great thriller in summer (or anytime)? I read this during the summer months and great summer thriller’s, in my opinion, are fantastic for a beach read and this book did not disappoint. Personally, I have always been partial to thrillers versus other genres of ‘beach reads’ so this was absolutely perfect for me!
Don’t Turn Around by Jessica Barry pulls you in right from the start. You already know, from the first page no less, that something bad is going to happen. What you don’t know is who is it happening to and why is it happening at all? You see, both main characters have secrets they are hiding which could be the reason they are now both at risk.
Just when I thought I had this book figured out it surprised me and went on a completely different track that involved delving into more serious topics than I had initially expected from a thriller. Our main characters, Cait and Rebecca, have never met before the events of this book but we quickly learn that both characters have something they are hiding as well as something they need from each other. Not knowing who is the target, meanwhile someone is determined to ensure one or both of them does not make it to their destination. The vagueness here is purposeful, as I would NOT want to spoil the plot for anyone. 🙂
Told in alternating time periods, specifically prior to the drive (past) and in miles to destination (present), this book had me at the edge of my seat every single page. I highly recommend this book.
