Rating 4.5/5
Enemies to lovers is my favorite romance trope and I love the unique take on it with this book! The author has taken a popular plot point and has truly made it her own. The two main characters, Riley and Clark, are easy to love and I was immediately invested in their stories. With an atmospheric setting full of Scottish folklore, witty banter, and plenty of angst, DO YOUR WORST is a fun rom com that will give you plenty to discuss and won’t soon be forgotten!
Riley is a “curse breaker” and has been hired to remove a centuries old curse on a castle in Scotland. Clark is an archaeologist following in his father’s footsteps and determined to prove himself after a professional scandal. Both have valid reasons to work around the castle but neither want the other in their way. Clark doesn’t believe in curses but something about the castle keeps drawing him into Riley’s orbit. Riley is certain the area is cursed and will do anything necessary to figure out what needs to be done to remove it…even if it means working with her enemy. As tensions build and blood boils, the strength of their will is tested and they may end up dealing with much more than they bargained for.
For me, the spice level of this book is 3.5/5 and so well written! When Riley and Clark finally allow themselves to give in to temptation, their connection is electric. Because they’ve both been hired to complete a job, they must keep their relationship professional and not let any feelings get in the way. Through love and hate, Riley and Clark will easily become your new favorite fictional couple!
