What a great read to ring in 2023! After recently reading several fantastic fantasy novels, this adorable romance was exactly what I needed! I personally love reading dual perspective romance novels as I feel you really get to know both characters versus just the one telling the story. Eliza and Graham were so relatable, and I really enjoyed their unique type of second chance romance.
On their way to celebrate their 5-year wedding anniversary, Eliza and Graham are anything but excited. Even the car ride feels like a monumental amount of time with nothing to do or say to each other. Their all-expense paid trip to the Northern California coastline should be the height of romance, but instead is showing how much they have lost their spark recently. When a fellow guest at the hotel mistakes them for being single strangers and introduces them at the bar, they find a way to hopefully bring back the spark and agree to pretend to be perfect strangers to reconnect and hopefully find their way back to each other. The hotel hosting a dating seminar also does not hurt and both Eliza and Graham work to find their way back to each other. But when this game ends, will they still feel this new sense of heat in their relationship? Or will reality seep in and bring the distance back?
I really loved this story and found myself rooting for Eliza and Graham from the first page. I also really liked Graham’s new friend David-I found him to be such an endearing character as well! It is not common, to my knowledge at least, to read a good romance story about an already married couple who may be feeling disconnected, but still love and care for each other. I wish there were more books out there like this! Seeing Eliza and Graham discover each other again was really enjoyable and I highly recommend this book! Some fun facts about this story-it was written by a husband and wife writing pair, which is just so cool to see!
