“Here’s to sex that cracks our backs…Adventures that snatch our edges…And friends that stick like you.”
In a nutshell: The Wade family deals with the aftermath of losing two family members…and its gut wrenching.
TW: discussions of suicide, aftermath of stillbirth
In all honesty, I don’t know which part of this book I enjoyed the most:
-THE FRIENDSHIP BETWEEN THE GIRLIES–Yasmen, Soledad and Hendrix
-WE GET A GIRLY SERIES (I can’t wait to read more about Yasmen, Soledad and Hendrix) -the reality of family drama
-or just being a geeked out fan of Kennedy Ryan and being able to read another one of her books:)
Yasmen suffered a stillbirth two weeks after she and her family lost their aunt who helped them start a restaurant business. She and her husband, Josiah didn’t grieve or communicate together which resulted in their divorce. BUT THEY’RE SOULMATES! It’s something like if you love them, set them free, if they come back they’re yours forever. A very big gamble but I’m here for it in fiction–ONLY FICTION thank you.
My favorite part of reading Kennedy Ryan is how honest her stories are. Ryan puts her characters through the ringer of tough choices, hard times, etc. Reading how Yasmen and Josiah navigate their lives, feelings, families, businesses, AND FRIENDSHIPS–gawd do i love friendships, brought an empathy and awareness to a variety of subjects that are usually kept quiet. And the good times keep coming. As stated above ‘Before I Let Go’ was Skyland #1 where we got to and through the trials of the Wade family; I’m torn between who I’d like to read about next: stay at home mom with a passion for creativity and a cheating husband, Soledad; or seven figure making, Hendrix. In all honesty, I feel for Soledad but Hendrix is so funny and I find her to be such a Boss Babe, I can’t imagine the type of man worthy.:)
This is a book I had FUN reading; because I’m a Kennedy Ryan stan and there’s truth–my favorite reads are brutally honest. I can’t wait for more Skyland.
