A story about finding yourself and what makes YOU happy in a world where there is so much pressure to “fit in” or to try to squeeze yourself into a certain mold. I loved the focus on empowering the main character, Violet, and showing her journey in trying to find out who she is and what she wants. I believe it will be very relatable to so many women who read this book. We live in a society where people try to tell you what to like, what to do, and how to act. Kate Bromley does an amazing job showing us what Violet goes through to find her individuality, and the strength to stand up for what she wants.
I absolutely loved Marco’s character! His wit and sarcasm are my favorite in a character, and I believe he added so much fun to the story line! The angst and banter between Violet and Matt seemed so real and believable and my only wish is that there would have been more! I craved the times that they were together, and sometimes I felt like their moments were over way too quickly. The chapters with them in Capri were my favorite, and I wanted that type of vibe to just continue!
I also was not a huge fan of the ending. I was happy that Violet spent a year getting her life together and starting her career, but her reunion with Matt felt incredibly underwhelming to me. Maybe if there would have been an epilogue that showed some of their future and where they ended up, I would have felt different? It all felt to abrupt for them and their storyline.
Overall, it was a sweet RomCom with great banter, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to read and review!
