I’m a sucker for a grumpy-sunshine trope done well and A Little Holiday Fling absolutely delivered! This is a Christmas romance in a Toronto setting and made for a sweet summer escape. I adore Farah Heron, but this one was probably my favourite of hers yet.
I enjoyed the chemistry between Ruby and Rashid and the East Indian perspective on Christmas. Christmas is everywhere in December and that’s because it really is for everyone. Sometimes it can feel overly commercialized and sometimes religion feels like a barrier, but Ruby and Rashid show us how to give it our own special meaning regardless of your background and belief system.
I especially loved that this book was oozing with true Canadian winter references and there was a nod to The Hudson’s Bay!
Beyond the romance, this book delves into deeper themes such as breast cancer and loss of family members, making for a deeply emotional experience. The result is a heart-felt read that lingers long after you’re finished reading.
