Want to discuss great books with like-minded friends in Edinburgh?
The Edinburgh group has been going strong since April 2017 and has a fantastic group of members. Throughout the year we typically see between 12 to 35 attendees a month, of all ages and backgrounds. We meet in a few different city centre venues, usually on the last Thursday of the month at 7pm. It’s very relaxed and friendly, with a good mix of regular and new members each month. As well as our monthly book clubs, we also like to arrange social events such as pub quizzes and cinema trips. If you’ve got any questions don’t hesitate to reach out. Looking forward to meeting you!

Finding Flora by Elinor Florence is our January pick at The Gloss — a fierce, big-hearted novel to start the year with inspiration, courage, and conversation.
Set in 1905 Alberta, the story begins with Flora making a daring escape from an abusive marriage by leaping from a moving train. Determined to reclaim her life, she uses a legal loophole to secure her own homestead on the Canadian frontier. What follows is a deeply satisfying tale of resilience and reinvention as Flora builds an unexpected chosen family: a Welsh widow and her children, two American chicken-raisers, and a Métis horse breaker. Together, they learn to survive the land, protect one another, and “fire the heather” when everything they’ve fought for is at risk.
A perfect read for anyone who loves stories of frontier grit, female strength, and communities forged in unlikely places, Finding Flora offers rich themes and memorable characters that will spark a fantastic discussion.
Join us this January as chapters around the world come together to read and explore this unforgettable novel. Whether you’re brand new to The Gloss or returning for another great year of reading, we’d love to have you with us. Pick up your copy, check your local meeting date, and come meet a welcoming community of women who love great books and even better conversation.Local Chapter Information below (scroll down)

Hi
I’ve just moved to Edinburgh and I’m looking for a local book club. I’ve not read Decembers book as I’ve just come across your site, but I’d love to come along to January’s meeting. When will the next book/ meet time be announced?
Thank you,
Rachel
Hi Rachel!
We will have them loaded within the next day or two. It is going to be on January 26th!
Hi there
I booked a space for this Monday, 25 September however I am now unable to make it (due to unforeseen circumstances!)
Wasn’t sure how to cancel – I’d really like to come along to the October session – is it always the last Monday of every month?
Thanks!
Hi Megan! I have cancelled your booking for you. We can offer you a credit for a future meeting. You can email me at amanda@theglossbookclub and I can book it for you! It seems the Edinburgh chapter sometime switches up the day of the week.
Thanks .
Hi – Megan again! I can now make it on Monday as I’ve rearranged some things, so please disregard my last message – thanks!

Hi, I’m coming along as a newbie to the book club meeting in July and very much looking forward to it. I note the earlier time of 6:30pm for newcomers.
Hi Liz! We are very happy to have you. Please feel free to attend our new member induction at 6:30PM, this is an opportunity for any new members to meet the host and get the lay of the land before the regular members join.
Hello, I’m moving to Edinburgh in September, looking to meet people and read more. This seems like the perfect thing. I’m wondering if I have to sign up to The Gloss and pay for a subscription to be able to join the book club? Also apologies for the newbie questions but, are we expected to buy/source our own copy of the book or are there available/free copies?
Thanks for any help with this. I look forward to September’s book reveal.
Hi Holly, you are very welcome to join!

Hello, I hope this is okay to post here as I couldn’t find a ‘contact us’ link for Edinburgh. Please delete if not.
I’m one of the authors of The Karma Club series published by Boldwood Books and we’re hosting an author event and book signing in Edinburgh this Friday (26th September) at the Book Lovers Bookshop, 6 Melville Terrace.
We thought it may be of interest to your wonderful bookclub. Tickets are FREE, but they do need to be booked in advance. Details can be viewed here: https://www.bookloversbookshop.co.uk/events/karma-club-author-signing-event
Thank you so much!
