The Gloss Book Club Virtual Retreat
Saturday, June 18, 2022 10AM - 6PM EDT
Join Us Virtually Worldwide
Vacation, staycation… Yup, we've heard it all before, but BOOKCATION?! Now, that’s totally our speed! We’re so excited to bring you the perfect blend of summer camp-themed interactive sessions – AND a whole line up of uber talented authors!
We think you’ll be thrilled to learn that our Spotlight Speaker is none other than Jennifer Weiner! Jennifer will be joining Gloss Founder Erin Woodward for an hour-long interview and chat about her latest release - and our featured book club pick for the retreat - The Summer Place, which just came out this week!
Zibby Owens (Bookends) will be kicking back with Christina Lauren (Something Wilder) to chat all things chick lit, while Tarryn Fisher (An Honest Lie) and Samantha Bailey (Watch Out For Her) will be going head to head with Literary Agent Cecilia Lyra while sitting around the campfire telling scary stories. Catherine Adel West (The Two Lives of Sara) and Adriana Herrera (A Caribbean Heiress in Paris) will front our panel discussion on how to weave the perfect (historical fiction) tale and we’ll be asking your questions live throughout both panel events.
Get social with fellow Gloss members and retreat attendees during our community mix-and-mingle event before turning inward to connect to self through a guided meditation and workshop.
With your ticket, you will gain access to the live retreat programming as well as the recorded event sessions, so you can rewatch or catch up on the goodness! Our VIP tickets include a paperback (Canada) or hardcover (USA) copy of The Summer Place as well as our limited Gloss Book Club sweatshirt, which is the perfect layer for cooler summer evenings.

Erin Woodward, born in a small town outside of Toronto, Canada started the The Gloss Book Club in 2008 while living abroad in London, England. She saw it as a unique way to make new friends in a strange city. The book club originally started out as a passion project but grew organically as the members naturally moved from London back to their home cities across the world and asked to take the concept with them. The book club now operates in over 125 communities across 15 countries and has over 150,000 members – all reading the same book at the same time. Erin currently runs the company and also writes for publications in the UK and Canada. She reads over 40 books a year.
In addition to working with The Gloss Book Club as the Retreat Director, Valerie Bennett is also a trained life coach who guides women to connect to their deepest emotions to allow for their fullest expression of self, enabling them to make intentional choices and take aligned action toward leading vibrant and fulfilling lives. Valerie is also a trained breathwork facilitator and her offerings include 1:1 coaching, group coaching and workshop sessions, and breathwork classes. Valerie is a self-described growth junkie and so, not surprisingly, self-help is her favourite genre.
Cecilia (CeCe) Lyra is an associate literary agent at P.S. Literary Agency representing adult fiction and non-fiction. As both a storyteller and a storyseller, CeCe believes that stories are empathy-generating machines capable of healing, connecting, and enacting lasting change. She is drawn to books with strong hooks and smooth writing, told with originality, nuance, and authenticity. As a mixed race Latinx immigrant, CeCe is passionate about representing under or misrepresented voices and stories that contribute to a larger cultural conversation. She is the author of two novels, The Faithfuls and The Sunset Sisters, and she co-hosts the popular podcast, The Shit No One Tells You About Writing. CeCe is also a recovering lawyer but asks that you do not hold that against her. When she isn’t living inside a story, CeCe can be found drinking wine, munching on chocolate, and snuggling with her adorable English Bulldog.
