Lana Ferguson is the only author so far who can convince me to read ANY genre of romance I normally wouldn’t pick up, just to devour the book in a single day and absolutely love it. Since reading The Nanny, I have been a fangirl of her writing style, and it just seems to get better and better with every new title she releases.
I dipped my toes into the paranormal romance with her shifter book, The Fake Mate, and when I read the announcement for her most recent release I knew it was a must-read! Only Ferguson could convince me to dive completely in with a Loch Ness Monster book, and to no surprise, it was everything I wanted and more!
From rich family history to the scorching hot chemistry between these enemies to lovers main characters, I was sold. The lore of Nessie was woven into Key’s and Lachlan’s backstories in a way that had me wanting more, cheering the couple on as they fought to find a way to both find what they were looking for in the desire to put a stop to the family curse and find a way forward after their own losses.
“Did you really think you could kiss me like that and then just never do it again?” “I didn’t say it would be easy,” I huff. “I just said it was the right thing.”
Key was the perfect main character for this sort of title, fierce and struggling with the determination and spunk to go after what she wants and stop at nothing to get it. I loved the banter between these two, and how thin the line between love and hate between her and Lachlan was from the very beginning. Taking her grief into her own hands and showing up at her estranged family’s door with no notice made her endearing, her journey was my favorite part of the book.
“You are not who you are because of where you came from; you are who you are because of where you choose to go.”
Lachlan was such a grump, but in the best way and once he fell, he fell hard. They were truly meant to be and brought out the best in one another. This was such a fun, delightful story and I cannot wait to read more of Lana’s incredible characters, I adore how she writes outside the box in a way that makes you fall for new to you things!
