This Will Be Interesting by E.B. Asher is a comedic fantasy about four unlikely individuals creating a questing party to save each other and right the wrongs of the realm. The story picks up after the first installment of the book series, with Galwell the Great recently resurrected after 10 long years. He’s left to grapple with his community of friends and the world moving on without him, and labeling him as a hero to Mythria during his absence. Things get twisted when rule-abiding assassin, River, is assigned to kill Galwell by the Deathrose Guild. Fortunately, River gets interrupted by the gossip columnist’s scribe, Celine, who questions the intentions of the Guild to end the life of an innocent man. She’s determined to dig deeper and discover the real story for the realm. The last and unlikely person of the group is Mythria’s queen, Thessia, who is recently married and wants to spend her honeymoon exploring the neighboring territory of Vestriyan to truly experience life outside the palace. All four of them end up on a ship to Vestriyan, in part to run from some of their own personal problems while also uncovering the truth behind who wants to kill Galwell. The group will find accomplices along the way that will dig deeper and help heal their personal traumas.
This book is written with so much wit and colorful language, it’s easy to picture every character and location their quest takes them to. There are a lot of moving pieces and perspectives, and the reader will find themselves jumping from one subplot to another with just enough information that’ll lead to more questions. The characters are hilarious, sarcastic and built up with their very own unique personality and backstory. Seeing all of them come together and work is truly sensational.
You will enjoy this book if you’re in the mood for a heartwarming, whimsical fantasy with a dash of romance and mystery.
