This was my second Kate Clayborn novel that I have read, and it did not disappoint. Her writing is unlike any other author that I have read. Kate writes the most complex characters, and it feels like you are on a journey with them through the book.
The Paris Match was a beautifully written rework of Beauty and the Beast. The main character Layla was asked by her ex-sister-in-law Emily to attend her wedding in Paris. On her way to the wedding, someone on the plane has a medical emergency so she steps in since she is a doctor. That is when she meets Griffin. He makes such rude comments to her on the plane, and she cannot stop thinking about him. She notices that he has scars that cover most of his face and can tell that he is in pain. When she arrives at the hotel in Paris, so does Griffin. She finds out that Griffin is the best man at the wedding, and she will be unfortunately spending a lot of time with them. Emily starts to get cold feet about the wedding, so Griffin and Layla step in to help ease her nerves.
Laylas ex-husband is also in Paris for the wedding so Griffin and Layla find themselves going and exploring the city to get away from any drama with the wedding party. They explore Paris, go shopping, and eat their way through Paris. Griffin is very shy and has a hard time opening up about his past and why he has scars/burns on most of his body. This was such a unique love story about finding out what you really want and moving on from the past. Thank you to the author, Berkley, and NetGalley for the ARC. The Paris Match comes out on April 7th, 2026.
