What is changing with the new subscription model?
Exciting changes are coming to The Gloss! Starting from October 1st, we’re transitioning from a per-event fee structure to a subscription model, offering monthly or yearly plans. As a subscriber, you'll enjoy access to the entire community, including all in-person events, along with a range of exclusive benefits and perks.
This shift means you'll be investing in belonging to a vibrant community rather than just purchasing a one-time ticket to a book club event. It’s all about creating a more connected and rewarding experience for you!

1Why are you changing the membership model?
Our goal is to enhance your book club experience by making it easier to participate in our events and encourage community engagement. The new model simplifies your experience with a single subscription fee and offers more benefits and exclusive content. It also means all members will have the same access and benefits.
2How does the new subscription model work?
- Subscribe to Our Website: Choose a monthly, bi-annual, or yearly subscription to access our full website.
- Register for Events: Once subscribed, you can register for any of our in-person or online events at no additional cost. Note: Book early to ensure your spot at in-person meetings, as they can fill up quickly. Virtual meetings are always available.
- Access Exclusive Perks: Enjoy the various perks and benefits available only to subscribers.
3What do I need to do if I have an active Yearly Membership?
If you have an active Yearly Membership as of October 1st, 2024, there’s nothing you need to do. The system will transition, and it will no longer ask for payment for our events, but you’ll still need to RSVP to individual events.
4What do I need to do if I usually Pay As I Go?
You will need to subscribe to access the site in its entirety from October 1st onwards. Without a subscription, you will no longer be able to see upcoming event locations or RSVP for them.
5What are the subscription tiers and pricing?
We offer three subscription options:
- Monthly: $7 (£5 in the UK, €5 in Europe)
- Bi-Annually: $36 (£28 in the UK, €28 in Europe)
- Yearly: $55 (£50 in the UK, €50 in Europe) – includes a welcome gift with the initial subscription, and 5% of all first-year subscriptions will be donated to a literacy-promoting charity.
6How can I cancel my subscription?
Subscribers can cancel at any time. Cancellation must be at least 5 days prior to their next billing cycle for it to take effect in time. No refunds will be offered.
7What is your refund policy?
Refund eligibility includes:
- Subscription Renewals: Refunds are not issued for renewal payments once paid. To stop your subscription from renewing automatically, cancel your subscription at any time.
- Payment Policies: All sales are final. Refunds are issued only in certain situations and only if the payment was made through our preferred processor, Stripe.
- Annual and Monthly Member Dues: Refundable if the chapter was announced and closed within 1 month of payment, a host cancels a meeting, or if a refund is deemed necessary to maintain the integrity of The Gloss platform.
8What payments are non-refundable?
- Voluntary Member Dues payments
- Member Dues that automatically renew
- In-Person Meet-Ups: Refunds or re-allocation of payments are not issued for inability to attend or if the meeting is full or sold out.
