Rating: 3.5/5 Stars
I typically LOVE Lucy Score’s books, and so I dove headfirst into this one thinking I’d be done in two days. It literally took me a week to read the first 200 pages. If it was possible, I’d split the rating. I’d give the first 220 pages a 2/5, and I’d give the second half of the book a 4/5. I think it just felt like a ridiculous amount of fluff. This could have easily been a 350 page book instead of over 500 pages. I will say, once the storyline between Campbell and Hazel got started, I was so much more interested. The second half of the book took me 2 days versus the week for the first half. Campbell Bishop was deliciously grumpy, perfectly jealous, and so, so hot in control. The third act breakup in this one didn’t bother me because it felt like a deep rooted issue that truly would cause someone to try and sabotage a relationship. The grand gesture was also top notch in my opinion. The small town vibes were great, and Lucy Score really did make me want to move to Story Lake! I have a feeling the next book is going to be about Zoey and Gage, and I definitely do think I will read it, but I am hoping for not as much fluff and for things to happen sooner!
