Book review

Do We Know ‘Chick Lit’ When We See It? I think we do, and to say that “When Life Gives You Lululemons” by Lauren Weisberger is Chick Lit, would be 100% accurate, this is a book to read in a book club, with your friends or next to the beach. From the author who brought us the unforgettable crazy goddess Miranda Priestly in “The Devil Wears Prada,” comes a story in a spin-off kind of way of the brilliant Emily Charlton, and her life ten years after she stops being Miranda’s assistant. In this book, Emily is a “Fixer” kind of an Olivia Pope for Hollywood, she has a big portfolio of customers and keeps herself busy; however, Emily encounters a problem that she cannot fix when a young influencer starts stealing her customers. Emily goes to the New York suburbs to visit her longtime friend Miriam, a successful lawyer mother of three who decided to stay home to spend time with her children; together they find themselves in the middle of a Storm surrounding an Ex-model turned Senator’s wife. It will be their job to form a team and fix the mess that Karolina is in now, while also restoring her reputation. This book should not be dismissed as shallow or vain, as it presents well-formed characters and motives that will make you feel empathic for them and their lives. Check it out on Amazon
