Until the Last Star Fades by Jacquelyn Middleton (Review by Samantha Hartlen)

I am a true Jacquelyn Middleton fan! I’ve really enjoy reading her other books, and was so excited to dive into Until the Last Star Fades…and it did not disappoint. I highly recommend getting yourself a copy, a cup of something warm, and cozying up with this contemporary romance. It starts out as a classic boy-meets-girl, but quickly turns into something much more unique and complex. Middleton tackles tough issues like cancer, parent mortality, depression, and organ donation head on, but with authenticity, care and compassion. Until the Last Star Fades takes place in the same world as Middleton’s first two novels, but introduces us to an entirely new set of characters to love. Riley and Ben have both had experiences well beyond the typical 20-something, but still face the coming of age challenges that you may expect. While much of the novel unpacks deep issues, there are also so many components that are sexy and fun – key ingredients for a page turner. And as a fellow Anglophile, I love how Middleton always includes a wonderful British character as well as references, phrases and treats. I’m hoping there is a next chapter (book) for Riley, Ben and the whole crew. I also think this book would be an incredible movie! ???? (fingers crossed emoji) Jacquelyn Middleton!
