Princess Diana was the most famous woman in the world, celebrated across the globe for her poise and glamour. But before stepping out of the royal carriage at St. Paul’s she spent nineteen years as the shy, awkward Lady Diana Spencer. Wendy Holden offers a fresh take on one of the world’s most famous figures in this final book (wasn’t aware it was the final one of a series when requested it!) This book was well researched historical fiction and displays how the palace, and the British royal family were forever changed by Princess Diana. I wanted to love this book… I admired Princess Diana from a very young age and dreamed about meeting her. Every young girl dreams of meeting her prince and falling in love to live happily ever after. Other books and TV shows about the royal family mostly leave me confused and bored by the storyline and I hoped this book would be different. I looked forward to learning about Diana’s younger years and how she became the World’s Princess but I was disappointed yet again. The alternating view points and gaps in the years were confusing and hard to follow that I found myself almost trying to skip some sections before giving up completely. I had such high hopes to love this one. Hopefully others who read it will think differently than I do.
