The Love of My Afterlife by Kirsty Greenwood (Review by Sara D’Onofrio)

I’m not going to lie, I can’t say that I was expecting to love this book as much as I did. The first two chapters suck you right in, and I think it is a very unique storyline. I often feel like there are so many common tropes and themes these days, so this was a welcome change! After initially being pulled in, I did notice that I felt like it slowed down a little bit. I wasn’t dying to pick it up and didn’t feel a huge connection to the characters, but Cooper slowly stole my heart. I love a good sarcastic banter, and I mean, the night of the Gala?? Swoon. Worthy. The build up to their connection was done perfectly. Fake dating and forced to share a bed? Chef’s kiss for me. While their love story was such a special part of the book, I found myself falling in love with her journey. To see her come out of her shell and do things that she wouldn’t have done before, it was powerful to see what stepping out of your comfort zone can do. The supporting characters added a lot to this story as well. Aled, Frida, Amy, and Mr. Yoon deserve a special highlight all on their own. My favorite part of the whole book was Mr. Yoon’s surprise party. It was the most beautiful representation of how far Delphie had come since the beginning of the book, and it truly warmed my heart. I will definitely recommend this book to others!
