The Long Game By Elena Armas (Review by Taylor Bridgeforth)

“F*ck him. F*ck them. F*ck everyone who has made you feel like you’re not worth everything you deserve.” In a nutshell: no one does a slow burn turned HO-HO-HOT like Adalyn and Cameron. Momma needs an Aaron Blackford + Cameron Caldani sammich. OHHHH MY GOOD LORD! The progression of the word ‘darling’ going from condescending to ever-lasting love was magnificent! I loved this book so much, I had to keep from reading it as fast as I could because I didn’t want it to end. The part of the slow burn I loved so much is how often I was left hanging. You’d get so close and then it’s the end of the chapter. However, instead of the next chapter immediately picking back up it’d start days/week later. It was unbearable. It was magnificent! Aside from it being a romance book, there were also friendship, family, community and self-awareness themes that added to the overall growth of many of the characters outside of the main two. Another bonus was the cutest soccer players of all time. The girls ranged from 7-9 years old and their personalities were so unfiltered and innocent which made it so fun to read as well as miss the old days of adolescence. There was a very inconspicuous ending that I didn’t hate nor fully understand but in my unpopular opinion bb Maria needs her HEA ASAP. The people of Green Oak are all deserving of their own novel, even Diane…but Ronnie, Tony and Maria first. *fingers crossedBONUS: I think we’ll get more Cameron and Adalyn updates. *fingers crossed againfor writers/actors to be paid fairly so we can get back to our long awaited book adaptations we’ve been teased with. *fingers crossed part 3‘The Long Game’ gets picked up. Hehe, rant over.
