This is a slow burn mystery full of intrigue. Told in dual points of view with one narrator being a mystery, the tension builds as you receive tidbits of information from each person’s past. Once most of the puzzle pieces are in place, the action ramps up and provides a satisfying and climactic ending. Perfect for those just getting into the thriller genre, this book definitely has the potential for a lively discussion! Revelle Lee is an interpreter and fluent in ten different languages. Although she is technically employed by a third party company, most of her translation work is completed at police stations and inside courtrooms, giving her constant access to the darkest parts of society in London. Acutely aware that misinterpreting one single word can change a verdict, Revelle takes pride in her integrity and ability to translate correctly. Never married but longing for a family, she is in the process of adopting a young boy, Elliott. Soon after beginning the adoption process, she starts receiving threatening messages that make her fear for their safety. On top of the unsettling messages, she’s afraid someone knows about the error she made many years ago and its awful consequences. Who is sending her these messages and what is their motive?
