I Love It When You Lie by Kristen Bird (Review by Sara D’Onofrio)

I LOVE when a book can pull me in from the first couple of chapters! Having three sisters of my own, I understand how strong that bond is and how you would do anything to protect each other. Kristen Bird did a phenomenal job telling the story from each point of view, and also keeping the storyline cohesive. While all POV’s were interesting, I was especially enthralled with June’s perspective. You could feel her heartache and despair so deeply, and for all women longing to be mothers, she helped give context to how hard that can be on your mental health and your marriage. The chapters were the perfect length for me; sometimes, only a page or two. I feel like you can fly through a book easier when you always have that “just one more chapter” ability. I did feel like the story slowed down for a little bit in the middle, and I wasn’t as drawn to Tara’s POV, but it didn’t take long to pick back up! I took off some points because I wasn’t crazy about the ending. That is not what I would have wanted for Clementine, and I wish the author would have connected her with Coy, or at least the possibility. As a type this, however, it does leave potential for a sequel, and I actually would feel great about that. :blush: I would definitely recommend this book to everyone though! Favorite Quote: “He would be fine, she’d told herself. He was a snake in the grass, and she knew from living in the South how hard those things were to kill.”
