Book review

How to Find Your Way Home by Katy Regan is one of those books you can’t put down and leaves you thinking how you would handle life and your relationship with your brother if you were in the same situation. How to Find Your Way Home is about the bond between an older brother and younger sister. Stephen and Emily were inseparable when they were young and had a love of nature in particular birds. Fifteen years later Stephen is homeless and Emily has been searching for him by working at the local housing office. Although she seems to have the perfect life, boyfriend and flat, something is missing in her because she doesn’t have her brother around. It is a heart wrenching story about how a bond between brother and sister can be so strong that you would do anything for each other, even if the consequences will change your whole life and relationships with parents, friends and partners. It is a beautifully written story that has you engaged from the first line and although you suspect what might have happened to create the present, it isn’t what you suspect. I highly recommend this book and a great one to discuss at a book club.
