Book review

This is a terrific tale, actually three stories in one, all revolving around each other, even though they are in different centuries. The premise: one lie can have the power to alter history. This must-read is romantic and involves a Queen, a courtesan, and a young lady named Holly. All three tell their tale from their individual time periods and the story intertwines itself expertly. You will easily get wrapped up in the romance and the history surrounding a particular house found in the wooded hills of Oxfordshire. Ashdown House holds the key to the lies and deceit of four centuries and the answers to why a mirror and a pearl have such immense power over those who touch them. If you like romance, old houses, the countryside, the gallantry of knights and lords, along with the idea of being a queen, then House of Shadows is a perfect read for you this summer. I give it 2 thumbs up! A Review by Jennifer Boksman
