Hippy Days, Arabian Nights by Katherine Boland (Review by Jennifer Holmes)

Release date today, May 1, 2017. *book is available in Australia or on Amazon in ebook format. Hippy Days, Arabian nights is a memoir written by Katherine Boland. I don’t typically read memoirs, but this book definitely has me reconsidering the genre. Katherine’s book begins when she’s a young college student in the 70’s. Everything about her is very natural, artsy, (“hippy”). I could envision her wearing boho clothing, growing her own food, and being very laid back. The first half of the book goes into great detail about her relationship with her boyfriend John. It describes some amazing travels as they are living their young lives true to their beliefs while going after what they want even if it means they have to struggle. Eventually, they end up succeeding and obtaining all their life goals. Along the way, they encounter many bumps in the road, disappointments, and heartbreaks, but also enjoy many triumphs, happiness, and ultimately successes. The latter half of the book takes us on a second journey as Katherine’s life takes a complete turn, single, and becoming known as an artist. She travels to Egypt and falls in love. I don’t want to give away too much of the story, so I’ll just tell you that I could not put this book down. There is so much content that will appeal to such a wide range of readers. Everyone will love it, relate to it, and want to recommend it to their friends. The book is funny at times, sad, heartbreaking, and full of many adventures. It exceeded all my expectations.
