Book review

Greek Mythology meets Dark Academia… Huh? Yeah, but it works; trust me. In this “edgy feminist campus novel about justice, gender, and power” we meet Jessie Mooney, a somewhat unhinged yet likeable protagonist whose plans to enroll in the prestigious law course at Franklin University have more to do with Professor Jay Crane and all the ways she’ll make him pay for the death of her sister. When she finds the last emails from her sister and the professor, Jessie ends up ensnarled in a revenge plot where she has everything to loose. Positioning herself as Professor Crane’s “favorite” to earn his trust is just the beginning of this mind-bending book and you’re going to have to hold on for the ride. Rosemary Hennigan studied law at Trinity College, as well as the University of Pennsylvania which will come as no surprise when reading this twisty-turning story; her depth of knowledge really added something to the story.
